Romans 13:11-14 The Message Bible
11-14But make sure that you don't get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. We can't afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don't loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about!
Wake up now! Get out of slothfulness! These are serious times and we should not be "dozing off." These are busy times and we need to be ready for the influx of souls that will be coming into the Kingdom. They will be getting their salvation! Hallelujah! I like this - "be up and awake to what God is doing!" Now that we are awake, let us get dressed and start to move - start to walk in what God wants us to do. We are to walk as believers so everyone will see the light of Christ.
We should be walking and doing what God wants us to do. There is so much to be time in a short time. We don't know when Jesus is coming but we do want to be ready; not only ourselves but other people too. Bring them to the Kingdom of God! Let's go walking in our neighborhoods, talking to people, telling them how wonderful our Jesus is and that they too can have the joy of salvation! Arise in the morning and get to business. We get up every morning and get ready to go to work. Well get ready with the Word for your breakfast (now you know to eat your natural breakfast too - that's for me...lol), get dressed (put on your armour), and get to business (bring people into God's Kingdom). If we are acting like true believers, people will notice. Put on your best robe - fine, clean and white. To sum everything up, put on Jesus - the light of the world! To put Jesus on, we need to enter into fellowship with Him. I think there is a sense of urgency that God is talking about today. Sometimes we get into that trap of thinking that we have all the time in the world. We can get lazy about doing God's work because we think we have so much time. Every day counts! Let's get moving!
