Hebrews 12:28-29 - The Message Bible

28-29 Do you see what we've got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He's actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won't quit until it's all cleansed. God himself is Fire!

Since it is Thanksgiving tomorrow, I thought about how we should be thankful to God for all He has done for us. We have an "unshakable kingdom" - how good is that?! Thank God for the Kingdom that cannot be moved! Thank Him for His grace. I like how the Message Bible puts it. We should not just be thankful but worship Him with reverence. He is our King and He blesses us mightily. Let us serve Him with reference and the reverential fear of God. Only worship God and not false idols. God is a jealous God and wants us to worship Him only. I like that the Message Bible says that "He's actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn and He won't quit until it's all cleansed." Awesome! He will torch all the flesh in us that needs to be burned and will cleanse us thoroughly. God is love but His wrath is against sin. God is a merciful and loving God but He does not like when we are disobedient to Him and His commandments. We should thank God that He loves us so much that He would cleanse us so we can be closer to Him.
