Psalm 27:7-14 Amplified Bible

Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; have mercy and be gracious to me and answer me!
You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word].
Hide not Your face from me; turn not Your servant away in anger, You Who have been my help! Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation!
Although my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child].(A)
Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain and even path because of my enemies [those who lie in wait for me].
Give me not up to the will of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me; they breathe out cruelty and violence.
[What, what would have become of me] had I not believed that I would see the Lord's goodness in the land of the living!
Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.

The Psalmist here is basically saying to "seek God's face" first. God is a good God and His grace is sufficient for us. David is asking for favor from the Lord and asking for His presence and guidance. It's like I was saying the other day to seek His face and ask for His guidance and His grace. Pray in faith and wait on the Lord. David was willing to seek Him and the key was that he was willing to obey God when God answered Him. David knew if He waited on God that He wouldn't fail Him. As we say "He never fails us nor forsakes us." This Psalm is an encouragement to me. I know that David went through a lot and it must have been tough for him but He knew His God and knew that God would not be far from Him. His faith was strong and His heart was in the right place. That's where I want to be...in my right place with God. Today I ask Him to strengthen our hearts so we can be in our right position. Also that we "be of good courage" so we can preach the Good News to all nations.
