2 John 1:4-6 New King James Version
Walk in Christ’s Commandments

4 I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father. 5 And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another. 6 This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

I just love this Scripture. Of course they are all good. The apostle was joyful that children were following the truth - the Word. In this day and age there are so many negative reports about children and this generation. But there are many children that are following in their forefathers footsteps - supporting the ministry - supporting God's Word. They are on fire for God! We don't hear this on the news channels or in many magazines but there are many in this generation who love the Lord with their whole heart and soul. As parents and ministers, we are to teach them and love them and make sure they walk in truth. There are many people who will try to deceive them but keep them in prayer, talk to them and make sure they are in the Word. In Verses 7 & 8, the apostle is giving us a warning to be careful that we don't be deceived.

We are commanded to love one another. Jesus is our rock, our foundation. He is the love of our life. So we must go and show others the love of Christ. Love is one of the greatest commandments. This also means that the church should be walking in truth. So this commandment is also directed to the church so that others may know the True Word. Be careful and make sure that the church is preaching the True Word and not preaching something that may lead others astray. Love has been here since the beginning of time. As a church let us show love to others, bring them in and show them the love of Christ.
