Mark 13:32-37 New King James Version
No One Knows the Day or Hour

32 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. 34 It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. 35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— 36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”

In this Scripture, the disciples are commanded to be on the watch. It says it was like the door-keeper who was commanded to watch over the house. We are to watch over His house as disciples. No one knows the day and the hour that Jesus will be coming back. However, it is our duty today to continue to watch and pray. We should not be caught unaware. Make sure that we are not indulging in sinful ways and we should be making sure that we are doing God's work. All of us are to be watching over the souls that are in our care. Be careful about false prophets, teachings, the church and even watch over ourselves for we know not when Jesus will be coming back. If Jesus comes back unexpectedly are we really ready? Will He find us sleeping or in negative situations and attitudes? The Lord taught a lot of lessons on watchfulness and faithfulness. Also read the parable of the Ten Virgins in Matthew 25:1-13. We should take this word watch as a warning to be ready. There have been tasks assigned to us as disciples. As believers, we must live like Jesus is coming today but still continue to do the Great Commission. We should always train and plan for future ministry. I pray that we are not caught off guard and we will be doing our best and ready for His coming.
