Romans 5:1-5 NIV

1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a]have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[b] rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
3 Not only so, but we[c] also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Faith is being confident in God's grace. It is trusting in God. With faith we can be happy and willing to do what God commands us to do. Christ died for sinners. We have life through Christ's righteousness. Paul says that when we sin, we rebel against God. When we stop rebelling and we are forgiven, we are at peace...God's peace is grace. When we become true believers, a change comes over us. We are changed by Jesus Christ. The flesh is killed and we are different people in our body, mind and spirit. When we go through trials and tribulations, we should be joyful. Believe it or not, when we go through trials and tribulations we are being taught patience and God's grace works within us. We learn how to endure through these trials and it puts our faith to the test. It actually gives us hope. It is the kind of hope that does not make us ashamed. It is because of the love of God that we have this hope. Faith and hope triumph in times of trouble.
