Proverbs 13:9 (Amplified Bible)
9The light of the [uncompromisingly] righteous [is within him--it grows brighter and] rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked [furnishes only a derived, temporary light and] shall be put out shortly.
I have been reading the Book of Proverbs lately. There is just so much wisdom in this book. I like the Amplified Bible version because it says the "uncompromisingly" righteous. As believers of Jesus Christ, we should not compromise our beliefs. If we don't compromise, our light will shine brighter each day. I was thinking about what Min. Wanda preached about on Tuesday night and how we should just rejoice when the enemy comes and tries to trick us. He uses the same old tactics over and over again. When we laugh it confuses the enemy. If we are in the Word and our light becomes brighter then we cannot be overcome by Satan. By being in the Word we will have the light of knowledge, unspeakable joy and gladness.
The world only has a temporary light. They think they have joy but it is only for a little while - the same with what they think is happiness. It is all short-lived and their light will soon go out. Then they will be in the very black of darkness. What they think are pleasures are only for a little while. Their light is easily put out. If they continue down this road, it will be a road of darkness and will lead to the complete darkness of hell.
Father, I pray that we all make the right choices. The choice to read your Word and bring light - as it says in Psalm 119:105 "Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path." Let us bring a bright light to the world for they cannot see the right path. The world is in great danger so we ask for the strength and the light to bring the Gospel to others. We want to show them the true light of the world which is Your Son, Jesus. We thank you for Your Word because it guides us and teaches us how to live. Help us always to make the right choice and stay in Your bright light. Let us walk in Your path of righteousness.
