Proverbs 13:12 (Amplified Bible)
12Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.
Sometimes we hope for something and if it is delayed, our minds get uneasy. We start to doubt and then start to lose hope that whatever we hoped for will not come to pass. If it is a really long time, we start to get depressed and then lose hope altogether. We start to become fearful. The sickness comes when we end up with a feeling hopelessness. But when we truly desire with a strong intention or crave for something then it is like a tree of life. When our desire comes for Jesus, then our hope lives and thrives. It is satisfactory to us and fulfills our hunger. If we truly have Jesus in our heart then we are content.
When we pray, we do not always get immediate results. Sometimes we have to wait. It can been extremely hard (especially if you are impatient). The Apostle Peter warns us that impatience can lead us to unbelief. The Apostle Paul says that patience is the essence of hope. We have to wait for God's timing sometimes for it to come to pass. God will answer our prayers but we have to be sure we are asking for the right things. The tree of life speaks of something that God promises. If we eat its fruit it will lead to a life of fellowship with God and an intimacy with Him which is fully satisfying.
