2 Chronicles 7:13-15 (Amplified Bible)
13 If I shut up heaven so no rain falls, or if I command locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer offered in this place.
God is responding to Solomon's prayer. He promised to give Solomon's request for the people if they manifested a true heart for Him. While praying is good, there is more to just praying. Our hearts have to be in the right place. There are different ways to approach repentance. One is to humble ourselves before God. The second is to pray unceasingly. Seek God's face is the third one. Finally to ache for, cry out for, thirst for and long for His face. When you repent, you turn around. So you are turning away from the wicked ways of the world. Then He will forgive us and restore our land.
At this time in our nation's history, I believe we need to do all of the above. I believe we need to repent for all the abortions that have happened in this country, for taking God out of the schools, for just leaving God out of many things. Sometimes God needs to get our attention and He uses difficult times to bring us back to Him. Sometimes God wants us to do a little more than pray. Again I don't mean that praying isn't good; it is but there is more that we should be doing. Healing comes from prayer and repentance. Hold on for our nation's healing. Hold on to God's promises. Read the Scripture in Joel 2:25. Read the Word. Thirst for His Word!
