I Peter 1:3-6 Amplified Bible
3 Praised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been born again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 [Born anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are being guarded (garrisoned) by God's power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit that [a]final] salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time.
6 [You should] be exceedingly glad on this account, though now for a little while you may be distressed by trials and suffer temptations,
The Apostle is blessing God for everything that has been given to Him through Jesus. Jesus paid the ultimate price for us. If we accepted Jesus as our Savior, we have been born again. We are sons and heirs of God. It never loses its value. Hallelujah! So rejoice! Even though we may go through trials and a have a lot of temptations, if we keep our faith and stay with God we will have our inheritance. It is reserved for those who are kept by God's power through faith and will be with Him to the very end. Give God thanksgiving for all he has given us. He is our Father and we are His children. How awesome is that? The hope of eternal life is what keeps our spirit alive. It helps us, supports us. Hope stirs up our soul!
The Apostle is telling the people who were poor and persecuted (some even lost their earthly estates) that through their being born again, they have a new inheritance. It would be a better one than the one they lost because of it being from God. So rejoice - as God's children, we have a better inheritance than what we have on earth! It will be forever! So praise God and thank Him for what He has given to us!
